Best Current Disney Plus Shows and Movies in Singapore
1. The Lion King
A classic favourite and a timeless film, there’s never a wrong time to watch The Lion King. Journey into the African savannah where Simba, the future king, was born. And see how he moves through the Circle of Life, overcomes family drama (hello Mufasa!), falls in love with the beautiful Nala, and finally gets his place as the rightful king. This family movie is made even better with many musical numbers – you’ll probably be singing Can You Feel The Love Tonight and Hakuna Matata for days!
You’ve probably watched this film before, as it is one childhood tale you’ll never forget. But have you seen its most recent remastered version? Directed by the famous Jon Favreau, your favourite Lion King characters are now brought to life. The film features renowned actors as Donald Glover and Seth Rogen. Beyonce also voiced Nala so you can expect the music to be legendary.Â
Must-watch Disney classics in Disney Plus:
- Aladdin
- 101 Dalmatians
- Frozen and Frozen 2
- Raya and the Last Dragon (just released this March 2021!)
2. Toy Story 4
Surprisingly, there is now a Toy Story 4. We’ve all probably shed some tears when Andy donated his favourite toys to Bonnie before he left for college. And just when we thought that it’s also a goodbye to Woody and Buzz Lightyear, they’re back for a whole new adventure! This all-new Disney Pixar film will open a Pandora box of childhood memories, at the same time make us feel really old. But still, it’s a highly recommended film to the child at heart – meet new characters such as Forky and Gabby Gabby. Also, a good movie to bond with your kids!Â
Must-watch Disney Pixar favourites in Disney Plus:
- Monsters Inc.
- Inside Out
- Finding Nemo
- The Incredibles
3. The entire Avengers movie series
The Earth’s mightiest heroes are now also on Disney Plus! If you haven’t still moved on from the fantastic 3-hour film, Avengers: Endgame (2019), you’d be happy to know that you can watch it over and over again at your home. Then maybe – spoiler alert – we won’t be missing Captain America and Iron Man in action as much as we do.Â
Aside from the Avengers trilogy, you can watch the entire 3000-minutes (sob) worth of Marvel Cinematic Universe films in Disney Plus – from Phase 1 to Phase 3! Not only will you relieve your favourite action scenes, but also you will be more prepared when Spider-man: No Way Home hits the theatres this December. Moreover, you are free to skip to the post-credit scenes that all fans love and check the amazing Easter eggs in all the MCU films.Â
Must-watch Marvel films in Disney Plus:
- Doctor Strange
- Black Panther
- Guardians of the Galaxy
- Thor: Ragnarok
4. The entire Star Wars movie series
Bring the galaxy far, far away closer to home as the entire Star Wars franchise is now available on Disney Plus. Watch the 9 main films aka The Skywalker Saga in the order you want – try the Machete Order for instance. Basically, you begin with Episode IV to VI, then I to III, and finally VII to IX. Confusing, but it’s always recommended by the hardcore Star Wars fans.Â
Disney Plus members also have exclusive access to the latest Star Wars side movies and shows like The Mandalorian (and finally meet Baby Yoda!) and Rogue One. And just recently, Disney announced the release of more spin-off films that you will only catch on Disney Plus, including the Ashoka and The Book of Boba Fett. But we’re most excited about Evan McGregor’s comeback in his own show, the Obi-Wan Kenobi!Â
Must-watch Star Wars stories in Disney Plus:
- Solo: A Star Wars Story
- Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
- Empire of Dreams: The Story of Wars Trilogy
- Star Wars: The Clone Wars (animated series)
5. Grey’s Anatomy
If you’re someone who loves to binge-watch on your alone time, Disney Plus offers a wide variety of shows for a more mature audience. Medical drama enthusiasts unite as the long-running series Grey’s Anatomy is now available on Disney Plus. Already on its Season 17, you need a lot of time to catch up on this one. Don’t worry, it’s all worth it! You will get a lot of helpful medical tips from Dr. Meredith Grey and colleagues, as well as enjoy some life drama. Literally a popcorn-grabbing show!
Must-watch Star shows in Disney Plus:
- How I Met Your Mother
- Logan
- Atlanta
- Family Guy
Best Upcoming Disney Plus Shows and Movies in Singapore
1. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier (TV Series – release date: 2021)
Now that Captain America’s mantle is passed onto Sam Wilson (The Falcon), what’s next? Find out in the next Marvel Studio series’ The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Together with Capt’s oldest friend, Bucky Barnes aka The Winter Soldier, they go on a global adventure that tests their abilities and friendship. There’s no doubt that the backstories of both Falcon and the Winter Soldier are not that focused on the MCU films, so we’re hoping that we understand more of them in this series.Â
2. The Mandalorian: Season 3 (TV Series – returns 2021)
With The Mandalorian Season 2 finished last year, Star Wars fans are craving for more. Thankfully, Season 3 is set to return this year! Though the official trailer is yet to be released. There’s really no telling what the all-new season will be about, but there are rumours that Boba Fett and Fennec Shand will be its main focus. Or maybe not, since The Book of Boba Fett will be released soon, too. One thing’s for sure: we can’t wait for Season 3! And hopefully, there would be more guest stars from the Force. A young Luke Skywalker, perhaps?
3. Loki (TV Series – release date: 2021)
Marvel fans are seriously blessed this year. After WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, we’re getting Loki! Spoilers ahead: He only had 5 minutes of screentime in Endgame before his unjustified death (or did he really die?), so Loki stans undoubtedly deserve this 6-episode miniseries. Like his famous last words, the sun did shine on us again. Tom Hiddleston is set to come back later this year, but the official trailer hasn’t been released yet. It’s reportedly set after Loki stole the tesseract on Avengers: Endgame (2019), but who knows? Maybe he is miraculously alive somewhere – Loki’s the god of mischief after all.
4. Disney and Pixar’s Lightyear (TV Series – release date: TBA)
To infinity and beyond, according to Buzz Lightyear. But what comes first? In Disney and Pixar’s Lightyear, we’re offered the origin story of Buzz Lightyear, the famous toy astronaut from the Toy Story films. Sadly, it’s not about the actual toy, but instead a tale of the real-life astronaut that inspired the Buzz Lightyear action figure. It’s still animated, though. Aside from the interesting premise, another thing to look forward to is that Buzz Lightyear will be voiced by Chris Evans (Captain America).Â
5. Monsters at Work (TV Series – release date: TBA)
We’ve always wondered what happened after Monsters Inc. (2001) since the 2nd film released was a prequel. What happened to Boo? And to the newly improved company under CEO Sully? Since Monsters at Work is set 6 months after the events of the original movie, maybe we’ll finally have some answers! A new monster, Tylor Tuskmon (Ben Feldman), will be introduced as a mechanic in the powerplant that now harvests children’s laughter instead of screams. No worries, your favourite monsters – Mike Watowski and Sully – are still here! Also, our fingers are crossed for more scenes with the little Boo.
Excited to try them all out?

It was first launched in December 2019 by the one-and-only Walt Disney Company. And now it’s available in Singapore for you to experience extreme youth nostalgia, as well as discover the latest trending films and series.Â
What to expect from Disney Plus?Â
It’s like your usual streaming device (no ads, high resolution), but more child-friendly films are available. Your classic Disney and Pixar favourites are here, and now you can share their HD versions with your kids. And that’s not all, you can also watch shows from other content brands that are currently owned by Disney. Unleash the ultimate fanboy or fangirl within you with the Star Wars and Marvel enterprise, educate yourself more with documentaries from National Geographic, and enjoy more matured content with Star (with titles from FX and 20th century!).
Don’t worry, Disney Plus has a Parent Control feature so you’re sure that your child only watches age-appropriate films and series. We definitely don’t want them seeing any gory scenes or brazen romance on screen!Â

You can pay either monthly or yearly. Of course, you’ll get more discount (save up to 15%) if you avail of the yearly subscription at just S$119.98. A monthly subscription comes at S$11.98.
From time to time, Disney Plus offers Premier access to new films and series at S$38.98. Imagine paying a ticket to the cinema, but at the comfort of your own home with the gadget of your choice and as many times you want.
