10 Best Hotel Suites in Chiang Mai
1. 137 Pillars House Chiang MaiÂ
Beautifully designed colonial-inspired suitesÂ
A place where elegance, luxury, and history meet, the award-winning 137 Pillars House Chiang Mai is truly a place to be. This boutique hotel is modern and luxuriously designed while preserving the essence of its rich colonial past. 137 Pillars House Chiang Mai features 30 outstanding luxurious suites, each boasting the architecture of Thailand’s culture and history.
We recently stayed at two connecting Rajah Brooke Suites, which were absolutely stunning. The spacious suite comes with a large walk-in closet and expansive dressing area, an en-suite bathroom with dual washbasins and a free-standing Victorian bathtub, and separate indoor and outdoor garden showers for the best of both worlds. To top it all off, the bed was huge, with Egyptian bedsheets so silky that it feels really heavenly. We were able to sleep with much ease! And oh, the bedroom slippers they gave us were probably the comfiest of all the luxury hotel slippers we have ever tried.
We also liked how the suite extends to an airy vintage-tiled veranda with an amazing view of the hotel’s tropical gardens. Really relaxing! You can just sit on one of the comfortable daybeds outside with your loved one, and watch the world go by as you drink champagne from the suite’s in-room bar. The in-room bar has incredibly gorgeous crystal glasses that make the most mesmerising sound when clinked with one another. Try it!
Variety of restaurants to cater to your appetite
The food at 137 Pillars House Chiang Mai also did not disappoint. There are multiple dining destinations right inside the hotel, which include The Dining Room for traditional Thai and Asian cuisine, Palette for a Western spread, and Jack Bain’s Bar for handcrafted classic and colonial cocktails. On our first night, they hosted us for dinner, where we tasted classic Thai dishes like Tom Yum Goong, Green Curry Chicken, Mushroom Soup with Truffle Oil, and Lamb Chop. All of which were really delicious! The best of the lot, though, was the delectable Tiger Prawns and Salmon that we had as appetizers.Â
To cap the night, we headed to the bar where their in-house mixologist provided us with the most amazing cocktails. We highly recommend their newly-crafted Pineapple Tart – so good and refreshing!
Breakfast was also just as great, but what made it more special was how they offered us fresh veggie and fruit juices. They were super fresh, definitely a great and healthy way to start our day. I also loved the flat noodles soup they serve during breakfast, so much that I had them for 3 days straight!Â
Exquisite experiences for the entire family
In line with the hotel’s colonial vibe, 137 Pillars House also has its very own croquet lawn. Our little Ally loved running around and playing with the little croquet ball. It was also her first time trying to play croquet so that was quite a nice experience for her and for us parents. In fact, she probably loved playing croquet more than she loved frolicking by the pool, perfect for kids because of its shallow parts. Â
Moreover, there was a grand piano in the hotel’s lobby, where our little one came up with her first original piece right on the spot. I also managed to practice a little bit of piano tunes there after 20 years of inactivity. Finally played a piece for my wife who has been wondering if my piano skills were a ruse.
Overall, we had a really lovely stay at 137 Pillars House Chiang Mai. Aside from all the luxurious amenities and brand-new experiences, what made our stay truly special were the people behind the hotel. General Manager Anne was such a darling; she checked in with us during breakfast and even spent time chatting with our little ones. Our butler, Toto, was super helpful as well; he even gave me a super long list of restaurants to try and places to visit nearby (like the Florist Market Mueang Chiang Mai where we got beautiful flowers!). 137 Pillars House Chiang Mai also supports the Elephant Nature Park, an ethical rescue and rehabilitation sanctuary for elephants, which speaks volumes about the hotel. We highly recommend for you to check it out!Â
