A trip to Bali is never complete without spending a good time enjoying the island’s salt air and warm tropical vibe. To make your stay a true treat like what we did, it would be best to opt for accommodation with a beachfront. We love how InterContinental Bali Resort delivers its promise of a luxurious and spectacular stay for all its guests – this hotel and resort is located along the shores of Jimbaran Bay.

No need to wake up early and walk towards the beach. With just a few steps, you can take in the beauty of the shore’s pristine white sands and clean waters to jump in. Since you are here, we recommend that you spend some time lounging on the beach chairs, soaking up the sun and listening to the calming sound of the waves. If you have kids along with you, they will surely have fun just playing in the sand and building sandcastles. Our little ones sure had loads of fun, and even gathered up the courage to waddle up to the waves and make some splashes! Oh, and if you are looking for something new to try, you can also go on a bike or an E-bike tour by the beach at InterContinental Bali Resort.

Another important factor we consider on trips we take is how comfortable the accommodations are. You can choose from 425 beautifully appointed rooms, suites, and private villas, each boasting a distinctive charm of their own. Whether you opt for a room with a king-sized bed or twin beds, there is ample comfort, especially ideal for families like us. The lovely Bukit Suite is great for families travelling.

Furthermore, the accommodations are equipped with thoughtful amenities that cater to your every need, including a pillow menu, a well-stocked minibar, complimentary coffee and tea, a work desk with a lamp, and more. InterContinental Bali Resort has artfully blended modern convenience with the signature elements of traditional Balinese architecture. Case in point – you can appreciate the contrast of the tropical hardwood floor and a light-coloured wall adorned with paintings in all rooms. Headboards would also be great to highlight because we love their intricate carved designs that undoubtedly add sophistication to the whole vibe of the room.

3. Indulge in pure luxury with Club Lounge benefits

But if you think that the rooms and villas are already luxurious, wait until you see the Club Lounge at InterContinental Bali Resort. Imagine a setting reminiscent of a beautiful TWG Cafe! Trust us, this is way beyond other resort’s club lounges. Upgrading your accommodations to include exclusive access to this exquisite lounge is definitely worth it!

From 2-4 pm, you can get afternoon tea, with canapes and sweet delights in a beautiful three-tiered tray. As the sun sets between 5-7 pm, the atmosphere transforms into a free-flowing evening cocktail affair, complete with appetisers. A talented pianist also comes in to serenade you with melodious tunes, elevating your night even further!

Having access to the Club Lounge also means that you can enjoy breakfast in exclusivity in the mornings. The service is much better, and you will get to try breakfast food not commonly served from the regular breakfast buffet. We especially liked their Japanese Curry Rice (I ordered this a few days in a row!), lovely bread and pastry selection, and the freshly mixed vegetable juice. Really refreshing in the morning! Our little Ally also loved her Smiley Pancakes, which she ordered often without fail. If you cannot find your favourite breakfast food from the breakfast menu, you can try requesting from the chef or servers, like what we did when our little kiddos wanted plain boiled oats instead.

After breakfast, treat yourself to a relaxing day by heading straight to the Club Pool. Here, you can indulge in complimentary mocktails and cocktails, ideal for unwinding and enjoying a leisurely day in paradise.

4. Enjoy a leisurely swim at the resort’s main pool

In addition to the Club Pool, you may also enjoy a leisurely swim at the resort’s main pool. The best time to experience this is during sunset, when you can witness the breathtaking view of the sun setting right before your eyes! The scenery is so captivating, making it the perfect backdrop for stunning photos. Loungers are also available so you will have a comfortable place to stay in if you get tired of doing laps by the pool.

Furthermore, there are also other pools you can explore. Each pool comes with a different aesthetic that we love. You can try to dip in each and see which ones align more with you. With this in mind, our favourite is the Balinese Bath Pool which is inspired by traditional bath pools at ancient water palaces. There is one dedicated for kids as well that families are welcome to spend time in!

5. Watch beautiful sunsets from the Sunset Beach Bar & Grill 

While sunsets from the main pool are stunning already, you can head over to the Sunset Beach Bar & Grill for an even better experience. Nestled amidst the swaying coconut palms and pristine white sandy beaches of Jimbaran Bay, this spot offers a front-row seat to witness Bali’s breathtaking crimson-streaked sunsets. You can enjoy the view further view refreshing drinks and delectable dining options, and at the same time, watch live music performances!

The Sunset Beach Bar & Grill is open from 11 AM to 11 PM so it is great for brunch with the best view too! Indulge in fresh salads, succulent Ribeye grilled meats, and flavourful fish selections, while simply spending time with your loved ones.

6. Celebrate special occasions with a Teppanyaki dinner at Ko Restaurant

At InterContinental Bali Resort, you may also opt to dine at the award-winning Ko Restaurant & Cocktail Lounge. This signature Japanese restaurant offers 3 dining concepts in a restaurant combining Balinese architecture and Japanese garden aesthetic, including one of the finest Teppanyaki experiences in Bali. We actually chose this restaurant to celebrate a special occasion—the night we asked our dear friends to be our baby’s godparents. With Ko’s impeccable ambience, delicious food, and great staff, it was truly an unforgettable evening! 

When it comes to the actual Teppanyaki experience, we highly recommend trying the Uluwatu Set, especially if you are a fan of sumptuous lobster. This set not only features succulent lobster but also includes delightful vegetables and fried rice that we thoroughly enjoyed. The tenderloin here is also a must-try, though make sure to go for medium rare to rare so the meat would not be too tough. Dessert was good too!

If you are not in the mood for some Japanese, InterContinental Bali Resort offers other delightful dining options like Bella Cucina. This signature restaurant allows you to dine al fresco under the stars or in your private indoor glass conservatory with chandeliers and gold plated cutlery. All while indulging in Mediterranean dishes and a refreshing bottle of wine!

Alternatively, consider Jimbaran Gardens for a delicious Jimbaran-style meal right by the poolside. Who can resist freshly grilled seafood in such a picturesque setting? Definitely not us!

7. Treat yourself to a me time at Spa Uluwatu

If you long for a full-body massage, don’t fret because you can expect to see detox and signature massage services from their menu too! Want an exclusive massage with your loved one? No worries, they also offer a couple of treatment rooms perfect for a romantic escape. 

Additionally, there is also an in-house beauty salon where you can treat yourself to a mani and pedi session. Hair styling is done by pros and cream baths are also available if you are up for it!

You can join the yoga club by the beach and learn about gentle poses while also meditating and reconnecting with your inner self. Moreover, there are scheduled bike tours you can take every morning. This is highly recommended as you will see the bay from a different perspective just around sunrise. Now, if you want to get a bit active, there are also tennis lawns you can book for a game. 

9. Allow your kids to experience culturally rich activities as well

InterContinental Bali Resort also makes sure that your kids also enjoy their stay at the resort. Their Planet Trekkers Kids Club is great to explore especially if you also want them to have a great time doing their stuff while you do yours. Definitely a win-win, they can also socialise and spend time with the other kids. Some of the activities we liked were learning the local language, Balinese dance lessons, accessories making, and so on.

With lots of cultural activities and games available, your kids will be immersed in the Balinese culture while also having the time of their lives. Furthermore, the Kids Club is completely supervised and secured so you will not need to worry about your kids being left here.
